1.Elite Guardians [+1] [76.56]

2.Lime Green Army [+1] [60.63]

3. Rebel Penguin Federation [-2] [59.06]

4. Mopia [+0] [50.17]

6. Recon Federation [-1] [36.08]

7. Red Rebellion [-1] [30.25]

8. Cosmic Army [+2] [28.80]

9. Winged Hussars [+0] [27.63]

10. Green Street Gang [-3] [27.18]

11. Pizza Federation [+1] [24.62]

12. Light Blue Army [NEW!] [14.99]

13. Club Penguin Police Department [NEW!] [12.00]

1. Elite Guardians

The Elite Guardians rise to the top spot in no small part of their many battles this week.  They began with a speed training session, where they maxed 21.  They then battled Mopia in the Summer Circuit, maxing 28 and winning the fight.  They went on to invade Snow Shoe, CPATG from the Lime Green Army, maxing 28 in a successful takeover.  EGCP continued to dominate their Summer Circuit group in a win over the Winged Hussars, where they had 22 troops.  Their next battle was the invasion of Rocky Road, CPATG, an event that reached 34 troops in total.  Another successful invasion followed, this time on Slushy, CPATG, where they maxed 30.  A third Summer Circuit victory this week resulted in 20 troops showing up for battle.  They closed their week with a training event, maxing 23.

2. Lime Green Army

The Lime Green Army was able to squeak past their allies, thanks to their massive amount of battles this week.  Yet, they started off with a training event, maxing 13.  They went on to draw a tournament battle against the Wild Ninjas and lose the battle for Snow Shoe, maxing 17 and 26, respectively.  They redeemed themselves by defending Sub Zero, CPATG, the next day.  Despite maxing 30 in the battle of Rocky Road, they lost the server, but were able to defend Fjord with 23 troops.  LGA lost yet another defense in the battle of Slushy, maxing 25.  Though their empire was damaged heavily from the events that occurred this week, the silver lining is a top two spot in the top ten.

3. Rebel Penguin Federation

Though the Olympic Week seemed to be bunches of fun, it hurt the Rebel Penguin Federation significantly, with a complete void in the tactics section.  The Olympics week began with two normal events, maxing 33 and 48.  The first game was Sled Racing, where the AUS division maxed 25, the EU division maxed 35, and the US division maxed 35.  Card Jitsu was next: AUS maxed 35, EU maxed 36, and US maxed 34.  One can sense a pattern here for RPF’s week.  The Dance Contest for the three regions saw sizes of 28, 25, and 24, respectively.   The EU and US divisions competed in find four, maxing 35 in both events.  The final contest was for the Pizzatron, where the three regions maxed 15, 30, and 24.  It’s the fun that matters, right?

4. Mopia

The notable Mop army remains fourth on the top ten this week. Mopia started with their Summer Circuit battle, losing against Elite Guardians while they maxed 21. This was followed by a battle against Recon Federation, where Mopia won maxing 20. They ended their week with another tournament battle, this time against Winged Hussars. They managed to max 19, being deemed the winners of the battle.

5. Wild Ninjas

Wild Ninjas rise in the top ten this week, going up three spots. Wild Ninjas started their week with a Hide and Seek event, maxing 13. WN then had a Summer Circuit battle against the Lime Green Army, where they tied maxing 19. They had another battle later in the week against Red Rebellion, managing 14 online, which WN was declared the victor of. After this they had a training event, maxing 12. They ended their week with a  recruitment event, also maxing 12.

6. Recon Federation

Due to the ceasefire in the war of Smoke and Sour, the Recon Federation fell back a spot in the top ten.  The week was kicked off with a party that had 8 attendees.  A training session was held on the same day, also maxing 8.  Their Summer Circuit battle on Wednesday was a loss, maxing 8.  The same day, RFCP  held a recruiting event that saw sizes of 9.  In addition to this, they and their allies defended their empire against RPF’s Strike Force, maxing 34.  Thursday brought another recruiting event, maxing 9.  They won their battle against PZF in the tournament, maxing 11, and ended the week with an 8 person training session.

7. Red Rebellion

Red Rebellion saw a decrease in activity this week, moving down a spot. Red Rebellion started their week with a training, maxing 12. This was followed by their two scheduled tournament battles, the first being against RPF where RR lost while maxing 12. Following this they had another Summer Circuit battle against Wild Ninjas, only managing to get 7 online.

8. Cosmic Army

Cosmic moves up in the top ten this week. They saw an increase in activity as they entered war with the Green Street Gang. Cosmic Army started their week off with an invasion of GSG, maxing 9. This was followed by an invasion of GSG’s capital, Fjord, where they were declared victorious while maxing 10. Cosmic ended their week by invading Matterhorn again, successfully.

9. Winged Hussars

The Winged Hussars had a fairly active week, consisting of both minigame tournaments and army tournaments. Winged Hussars started with a practice battle against GSG, maxing 6. They then had a Summer Curcuit battle against PZF, where they maxed 6 and won. Following this they had a sled racing tournament, getting 6 online. After this, they had a tournament battle against EGCP, maxing 8. At the end of the week they lost in a tournament battle against Mopia, getting 8 online.

10. Green Street Gang

Entering war, the Green Street Gang had quite a few battles this week. Green Street Gang began with a defense against Cosmic, where they lost, getting 3. After, they had a training with Winged Hussars, maxing 5. This was followed by the tournament battle, where they got 5, losing to RFCP. Then, they reinvaded their server Matterhorn against Cosmic, who didn’t show up. GSG managed to get 4 at their defense of Fjord, losing to Cosmic. To end the week, GSG maxed 10 at their invasion of Fjord and 5 at their tournament battle versus Pizza Federation.

1. Rebel Penguin Federation

The Rebel Penguin Federation broke 90 points for the second week in a row, and did so while demonstrating a higher proficiency in tactics then weeks prior.  The week began with an AUS training session, reaching sizes of 48.  Later that day, they hosted a joint EU/US training with 48 troops again.  Their next event was another AUS event, this time with 47 troops.  They went on to max 48 at a US training and a staggering 63 in an EU event.  RPF then saw sizes of 56 in a training session and 49 in a US event.  Two events on Saturday closed their week, maxing 26 and 49, respectively.

2. Elite Guardians

The Elite Guardians took a step back this week in terms of activity, hosting “only” seven events.  They started their week with a successful invasion of Deu Branco, Always Penguin, maxing 15.  A training session the following day saw an increase of size to 22.  Their first battle in the Summer Circuit resulted in a win against the Pizza Federation, maxing 26.  The leaders of EGCP declared the start of a naked revolution on Wednesday, and maxed 22 in the process.  They peaked in their second win of the Summer Circuit, beating the Recon Federation by reaching sizes of 30 troops.  Their next event was a hunt on Always Penguin with 20 troops.  A snowball fight with 20 troops closed their week on Saturday, enough for another second place position.

3. Lime Green Army

The Lime Green Army re-enter the top three after a week filled with nothing but battles against other armies.  Their first Summer Circuit battle started their week off on the wrong foot, losing to RPF’s Strike Force while maxing 13.  They went on to defend Beanie from the Red Rebellion with 15 troops, and beat the same army again in the Summer Circuit, maxing 13.  Later that night, they were unable to defend Deep Freeze, CPATG from the Recon Federation, even though they maxed 23.  Their invasion of Northern Lights, CPATG, failed, only maxing 17 and logging off early.  On Friday, they won another Summer Circuit battle, beating Empire with 11 troops.  At the end of the week, both LGA and RFCP agreed to a one week ceasefire, giving both armies the chance to recuperate and focus on the Summer Circuit.

4. Mopia

Mopia, like LGA, had a week consisting of only battles, though they saw a dip in size compared to previous weeks.  They won their first Summer Circuit battle against GSG, maxing 18.  Two days later, they maxed 17 while beating the Pizza Federation.  Their third and final event was a practice battle with RFCP, which they won, maxing 15.

5. Recon Federation

While other armies slowed down this week, the Recon Federation saw an uptick in activity.  Starting off with a recruiting session, they garnered 16 troops, creating high expectations for the army.  They cooled down with sizes of 9 troops in a training session the next day, but bounced back after beating the Winged Hussars in their tournament battle, maxing 9 again.  RFCP successfully invaded Deep Freeze, CPATG, from the Lime Green Army, reaching sizes of 26.  They went on to defend Northern Lights against LGA, maxing 24 there.  A practice battle with Mopia saw a huge drop off in size, only maxing 6.  They returned to sizes of 9 in their next training session, but fell back down to 6 in a recruiting session on Saturday.  Later in the day, they hosted one final training session for the week, maxing 6 yet again.

6. Red Rebellion

The Red Rebellion saw a huge boost through the rankings in the top ten, thanks to their vast amount of battles this week.  They started with a draw against the Wild Ninjas in the Summer Circuit, maxing 10.  They attempted to invade Beanie, CPR, from LGA, but failed, only maxing 12.  Another loss to LGA came in the Summer Circuit, maxing 9.  They hosted an unscheduled training session the following day, maxing 12 again.  Their third battle in the Summer Circuit closed out their week, maxing 12 yet again.

7. Green Street Gang

Despite having many events this week, GSG remains on the lower half of the top ten purely because of size.  They hosted a training session on Monday, maxing 6.  Shortly after, Marcos44 was appointed as a co-leader for the gang.  Their next event was a celebration for this occasion, reaching sizes of 12 troops.  They held a training the next day, maxing 7, and followed that up with a loss to the Winged Hussars in the Summer Circuit, where they maxed 6 troops.  On the same day, they hosted a training event, also maxing 6.  A training on Friday resulted in 8 troops.  The week ended on a sour note when the Wild Ninjas invaded Yeti, SuperCPPS from them, only maxing 4 compared to the Wild Ninjas’ 13.

8. Wild Ninjas

Wild Ninjas had a battle against Red Rebels in the Summer Circuit to start the week, which was declared a draw. Their next tournament battle, against Empire of CP, saw no oppenent where they maxed 8. They had an unscheduled event later in the week which was followed by another tournament battle against Rebel Penguin Federation. WN ended the week with an invasion of Yeti against Green Street Gang, where they were successful.

9. Winged Hussars

Winged Hussars started their week with a training where they got 4. The following day they had their first battle in the Summer Circuit where they maxed 6. Their next tournament battle was against Green Street Gang where they maxed 6 again, this time in a winning effort. They ended the week with a training event where they managed 7.

10. Cosmic Army

Cosmic started the week with a battle in the Summer Circuit against Empire of CP, where they saw no opponent. This was followed by another tournament battle against Rebel Penguin Federation, which they ended up losing. They ended the week with a close battle in the circuit where they were matched against Red Rebellion, maxing 8. After this they had a training event introducing their uniform change, where they maxed 5. To end the week, they had a recruiting session with 4 people.

The DMT Doctrine: The Troublesome Case of the Allied Battles

KLONDIKE, Club Penguin Armies Offices- Over the past few months, the community has realized the importance of foreign affairs in the army scene.  However, are armies abusing their relations?

The DMT Doctrine is an editorial series that comes from the mind of CPA Spokesperson and Administrator DMT.  Thus, the concepts conveyed in this article do not represent the viewpoints of Club Penguin Armies as an organization.

As of writing this, the dust has settled on the latest battle in the war dubbed “the war of smoke and sour”.  Lime Green Army’s invasion of Northern Lights from the Recon Federation empire was unsuccessful after an early forfeit from the attackers.  In the wake of the ending, a flurry of messages rolled into the battle room from both sides.  LGA leader, Zeke, had had it with the war.  He made his troops log off early because, in his words, “we’re tired of fighting a whole alliance”.  Emotions running high, the conversation ended with more questions than answers.

Roughly two weeks ago, RFCP leader Prior Bumble messaged me privately, asking how wars work.  I explained the process of declaring a war, and how the declaring army declares the terms in a war.  Whilst providing the example of a common condition being “no allies”, Prior interjected, asking if allies were welcome.  A bit puzzled, I said yes.  Just like that, the declaration rolled in, with Prior adding “allies are welcome!”  Just a few days later, Recon Federation joined the New Viking Alliance.

For me, it was foreign concept to not only allow, but to encourage allies in a war.  In the original community, wars were used to test the strength of singular armies.  War battles were a showcase of which army was stronger and which army was lead better.  Back then, we had no server map, and land designations were hard to come by.  Most armies had their capital and a small handful of servers they recognized as their own, but that was it.  The one thing that fueled wars was pride.  Armies fought to prove that their army was better than their enemy.  Evidently, things have changed.

When allies would get involved in wars, it would be as separate entities scheduling their own invasions.  Their would be some crossover troops, yes, but armies never had their entire player-base back their allies in a battle.  Actually, their were alliance battles, but these battles went under the name of the respective alliances.  Alliances such as the Red Dawn Alliance, the Triple Entente, and the Great Alliance would host events as a single group, with their own alliance uniform.  Armies were represented by their own users, not by their allies.

The war of smoke and sour has had all the emotions of a war from days past, but the presence of allies greatly influences these emotions of anger and hatred.  The war no longer feels like Recon Federation vs Lime Green Army, but an open ended battle where anyone can support any side they liked.  I’m always aware of when a battle is ready to start, because the allies of the respective armies ping their discord servers to help their allies out.  Thirty minutes will pass, and I will strap in to judge another battle where I will be criticized and ridiculed regardless of what I judge.

It’s tiring, but there’s nothing to be done about it.

This is where the question arises: do allied battles lose integrity?  The answer will depend on who is asked.  If someone asked me, I would say yes, because allied battles go against what I’ve thought war was all about.  If someone asked another, perhaps they would say no, because armies are just taking advantage of their foreign affairs.  It’s not an easy question to answer, and it falls back to the complicated mess of subjectivity that is present in many problems within the community.  When going on the facts, allied battles are perfectly legal and do not break any physical rule.  But do they break a moral law?

I’m inclined to believe so.

I’m doing my best to not attack individual armies in this post, but I find it quite silly when an army posts a training session that gets ten troops, and then posts a land battle that gets twenty five troops.  Honestly speaking, it’s deceitful.  Those troops are not a part of the army, they are simply under the guise of the uniform.  I guess that makes it physically “clear”, but it still strikes me the wrong way.  How can someone call that “their army” when over half the troops are not registered within the army?  How can that army hold sole possession of a server that was earned by a collective group of armies?

As much as armies are about foreign affairs, they’re about images and morals too.  The community experienced this with the Templars.  Despite their claims of being clean, the tainted history of the Templars brought their downfall within the community, resulting in their death.  In the same way, the morals and image of the Army of Club Penguin were thrown into a loop after leading the charge in the acts of “Order 67”.  More information can be found out about that event in time HERE and HERE.  Point being, the way others in the community perceive other armies is a big deal.  The actions that armies take, and the people who represent it, shape their future interactions in the community.

This war will go down in history as the first war in the Club Penguin Armies v2 Era, but it will be remembered as the war that demonstrated the stance on allied battles.  The majority of the community has made it clear they are O.K. with the idea of fully allied wars.  Maybe there’s an army out there that shares my sentiments that will remember this war, and declare war on the attackers down the road with a no ally rule.  The image of the Recon Federation (LGA has continuously expressed their disdain for allied battles) will now be viewed as an army that rose to power on their strong connections, but that’s it.  Perhaps I’m struggling to accept the changing climate in the community, as I am just an administrator of a news site.  What I say will not have as much power as an army leader.

I present to the new community an idea from days past.  Building an army becomes much more fun when the leaders must rely on recruiting instead of allies for success.  Judging the strength of the army makes the community interactive, and it gives leaders a reality check on their grasp on the community.  If every army relies on their allies, are we really an army community anymore?

1. Rebel Penguin Federation

RPF began their historic week with an AUS event that saw sizes of 38 troops.  On Tuesday, they held an AUS event and a US event, maxing 50 and 43, respectively.  A massive event took place the next day, where RPF reached sizes of 60, one of the highest recorded events in CPA history.  Their next event was a Thursday EU event with 49 troops.  An AUS event transpired the next morning, with only 25 troops.  The US event made up for it, with ANOTHER event of 60 troops.  They held two events on the final day of the week, maxing 40 and 50 in those.  It’s astonishing to see RPF top themselves week after week, which begs the questions: how far will they go?

2. Elite Guardians

The Elite Guardians maintained their spot once again after a week filled with invasions.  They trained for war to kick off the week and maxed 30 troops.  They then invaded Machu Picchu, CPPS.me, from the Musicians with 13 troops.  EGCP unleashed a schedule of invasions on LGAs land on CPPS.me, but LGA informed them that they would not be attending any of the battles.  So, EGCP went forward with invasions, starting by taking over Nom’s Box with 23 troops.  King Arthur was next, and they maxed 27 in the invasion.  They invaded Halloween the next day while seeing sizes of 15, and then invaded Merry Christmas later on, reaching sizes of 21.  They took a break from invading on Thursday to celebrate a troop’s birthday (Happy Birthday Jonas!!) with 18 party goers.  They engaged in a practice battle with the Red Rebellion, maxing 22.  To conclude the week, they invaded Zero Grau, Always Penguin, with 20 troops.

3. Mopia

The Mopia started off the week with a practice battle with Recon Federation, they maxed 25. Their next event was a war skirmish with the Pizza Federation maxing 26. The Mopia’s last event of the week was a training event, they maxed 10.

4. Lime Green Army

The Lime Green Army has been gaining and defending land all week. They started off with an invasion of Beanie from Recon Federation. The Lime Green Army maxed 28 and averaged 25. Their next event was a defense of Fog from Recon Federation. They maxed 20 and successful defended the server. Their next event was another defense. The Lime Green Army defended Northern Lights against Recon Federation, maxing 17. Their last event of the week was defense of White House against Recon Federation, maxing 22.

5. Recon Federation

The war with LGA, though they are losing, has brought RFCP success in the top ten.  The week started off slowly with a lopsided loss in a practice battle against Mopia, only maxing 4.  They then went on to lose the battle for Beanie, CPR, to LGA with 8 troops.  They lost their invasion of Fog, CPATG later that day, seeing sizes of 13 troops.  They hosted a recruiting event on Tuesday with 7 troops.  Another recruiting event mustered up 3 attendees.  The heavily debated battle of Northern Lights resulted in a win for RFCP, maxing 17.  They held another recruiting event the next day with 6 troops.  The week concluded with an unsuccessful invasion of White House, CPATG, maxing 17.

6. Wild Ninjas

The Wild Ninjas started off the week with an invasion of Ascent, maxing 13 and averaging 11. Their next event was a hide and seek event where they maxed 10 and averaged 9. The Wild Ninjas’ last event of the week was an invasion on Avalancha, maxing 17.

7. Winged Hussars

Despite having a very active week, the Hussars place 7th in a heavily competitive week.  The week began with a training event, seeing sizes of 7 troops.  A Card Jitsu tournament was held on Monday, where they maxed 10 and Takoz was crowned the winner.  The next day, they hosted a practice battle against the Green Street Gang, where they squeaked out a win with 7 troops.  A tournament preparation event saw sizes of 7 troops again.  They cooled down to a mediocre 4 troops in their next three events, including a loss of Ascent to the Wild Ninjas, but rebounded nicely on Saturday, returning to sizes of 7.

8. Green Street Gang

Like the army above them, an abnormally active week did not benefit GSG as it normally would.  They opened the week with a training event, maxing 5.  Another training event followed the next day, also maxing 5.  Later, they reached sizes of 7 at another training event.  A practice battle with the Winged Hussars resulted in a loss, while maxing 7 troops.  Yet another training event was hosted with 5 troops.  Saturday brought two contrasting battles for GSG.  First, they successfully defended Matterhorn, CPATG, from RPF with 20 troops.  The next battle saw the size decrease to 5, in a loss to the Wild Ninjas on Avalancha, SuperCPPS.

9. Red Rebellion

Red Rebellion started their week with a training, where they maxed 9. After this they had a practice battle against the Elite Guardians, managing to get 16. They ended with another training, maxing 10.

10. Pizza Federation

The Pizza Federation began the week with a war skirmish against Mopia. Following this, they had a successful defense of Toboggan where they maxed 19. They ended their week with a speed training session, where they managed to max 9.

Statement on Allies in Battles

With multiple battles going on this week, it’s become increasingly evident that many armies use their alliances to gain an advantage in battle.  Personal views aside, this is a viable tactic if the army that declares war states that allies are able to be used.  However, Club Penguin Armies will not let the use of allies destroy the integrity of the top ten.  Because of this, multiple deductions were handed out to the armies who had blatant use of allies.  While the size including allies was used in the biographies for each armies week, the calculations saw a more down to earth version of their usual size.  For example, the Lime Green Army typically maxes 15 troops on their own.  Many of their battles saw sizes of 20+ troops, but those sizes were deducted down to their original size, and then 3 was added.

The formula for the allies deduction is X-Y+3, with X being the size they maxed in the event in question, and Y being the difference between the size that was maxed in the event in question and the armies usual size.  As the top ten maker, I (DMT) made the executive decision to do this, as to not punish the armies who stay true to their own size, such as the Elite Guardians, Mopia, and the Wild Ninjas.  If you have any complaints, direct them to me and me only.

Summer Circuit Gamesmaster

Summer Circuit Tournament: Sign-Up

KLONDIKE, Club Penguin Armies Offices- As summer wages on, Club Penguin Armies is proud to present the first community tournament in our history: the Summer Circuit.

Format:

Historically, the summer tournament is always the biggest.  Club Penguin Army Central’s flagship tournament, the Legends Cup, was a single elimination tournament that involved almost every army in the community.  However, the Summer Circuit takes a new approach to maximize the peak sizes that are seen in the summer.  Instead of a single elimination bracket format, the tournament will be run through a league table.  A league table is something that is used in sports worldwide, but is commonly associated with English football (soccer).

Instead of having one singular league table, the Summer Circuit will run on two concurrent league tables, each having half of the participating armies.  Every army will face off against every other arm in their table twice.  The result of each battle will give the army points.  If an army wins a battle, they get three points.  If an army loses a battle, they get zero points.  If an army draws a battle, both armies will receive one point.  Yes, draws will be a thing throughout the group stage.  The goal is to have the most points at the end of the group stage.

After the group stage concludes, the tournament enters a single elimination bracket format.  The top two teams from each table will advance into a final four.  The best army from the first table will play the second best army from the first table, and the best army from the second table will play the second best army from the second table.  The winners of each of these battles will advance to the championship stage, where the winning army of that match will be crowned the victors of the Summer Circuit.

Judging Information/Rules:

Each battle will be hosted on either Klondike, CPATG, or Mammoth, CPATG.  If CPATG experiences difficulties, the backup location for a battle will be Ascent, CP Rewritten.

The standard battle rules apply to the tournament battles.  Three rooms across 30 minutes of action.  No multilogging, discord server raiding, or other acts of terror upon another army.

There will be at least one judge for every battle.  In the single elimination stage, there will be three judges for every battle.  We request that army leaders listen to the judge(s) when everyone is gathered in #battle-room, and to be as respectful as possible in the decisions made by judges.

The rooms will be announced by the judges.  Army leaders MUST pay attention to #battle-room for the room announcements.  The room changes will be at 10 minute intervals of each battle.  For example, if the battle starts at 3:00 PM EST, the first room will be announced at 3:00 PM EST.  The second room will be announced at 3:10 PM EST.  The final room will be announced at 3:20 EST.  Once the room is announced, armies may enter.

During the single elimination stage, DO NOT log off until a result is agreed upon by the judges.  The result may be a ruling for overtime, which would begin on judge jurisdiction.

There will be no blatant use of allies in any match throughout the tournament.  People can attend events, but pinging an entire discord server to go help out another army is strictly prohibited.

There will be no draws in the single elimination format.  Instead, if a winner cannot be decided after 30 minutes, a 10 minute overtime period will take place in a final room.  Then, a winner will be decided.  As per usual, size is the ultimate measuring bar in how an army can win a battle.  Tactics can be used if both armies are extremely close in size, or one army exhibits horrid tactics, and judging formations is seldom used in battle.
