CREAM SODA, Pirates Capital: Today we bring to you the second edition of “Army of the Week” on the CPOAL Website. The Pirates recently made the headlines following the departure of its Leader, Epic101. In his retirement event, the Pirates went on to max a mammoth 150, which was truly a sight to behold. Our second Army of the Week is the Pirates!
The Pirates and the Club Penguin Army Community go back a long way. The Pirates were created sometime in the month of May in 2007 by Bid Now. Under his leadership, the Pirates could barely muster 4-5 people. The army began to grow at a small pace, managing to reach around 8 members under the second leader, Whaleoil and it finally had its first taste of victory in its war against Golds under its 4th Leader, Coolster1114. A few weeks after their war with Golds, Bid Now decided to join the Golds Army. Following his exit, the site was defaced and that led to the end of the First Generation of Pirates. Efforts were made by former Leaders, Whaleoil and Coolster1114 to revive the Army, but the Army could not survive for much longer after the retirement of Whaleoil and Coolster1114. The Army was finally put to rest in 2008.

Pirates in 2007
During the summer of 2011, Zakdude and Jedpen of the Water Vikings decided to change the armies name to the Pirates. This era was pretty successful, with the CPPA averaging 25 at events, and being ranked as the 5th best army in Club Penguin. September 2011 saw the return of the CPPA, under the command of Waterkid100. At first, they were small, gaining only 5 at events, but when December struck, the army got involved in wars with other medium armies, and began to average 15. The Pirates continued to rise, eventually maxing 20 at events, and with former leaders backing the army once more. In April, Waterkid100 left, leaving Waterkid200 and Reuben as his successors. The army dropped to sizes of 10, and thus forcing Waterkid100 to return. Despite this, The Pirates did not rise, and eventually merged into SWAT, at the end of the month.

Pirates return in 2011
On the 19th of May, 2012, Waterkid100 was removed from SWAT. Thus returned the Pirates once again under the leadership of Waterkid100 and Coolster1114, they even managed to max 20 at their return event, that had only a 4 hour notice. Eventually, Coolster114 left and the Underground Mafias Army ripped through the Pirates Army that was led solely by Waterkid100.

UMA vs CPPA in 2012
Waterkid100 controlled the army soley throughout July, until 200 returned and was installed into the regime. At the beginning of September, CPPA decided to team up with PCP and ST against the war on ACP. The war lasted on through September into October, with invasions every single day. CPPA soon rose to their height of their empire, gaining 30+, on CP and defeating ACP in almost every battle. Soon though, Waterkid100 decided to retire from CPPA earlier than expected, and CPPA fell into a turmoil.

CPPA at its height in 2012
August 2nd, 2018, the Pirate Army made it’s return for the first time since 2014 under the leadership of Epic101, the legendary Waterkid’s successor. They returned to Club Penguin Online with sizes of 50+. The Pirates had taken over Club Penguin Armies and went on to dominate the League for months going forward. Ever since their second re-opening in Mid-September, the Pirates haven’t got sizes less than 50 under Epic101’s leadership. The Pirates have peaked at sizes of 70-80 in multiple events through 2018 and were even in the last 4 of the Christmas Chaos 2018 tournament.

Pirates in 2018
And it only gets better for the Pirates as they begin to continually max 100+. A constant top 3 Army, the Pirates have continued to surprise the Community with their desire to perform better and better with every coming event. Last week saw the Pirates max a mammoth 150 in their event, and its safe to say that the Pirates may still have more to prove as their Discord hits 10000 Members.

Pirates maxing 150
Recently however, The Pirates were left reeling following the retirement of their Leader, Epic101. The long lasting effects of his retirement are yet to be experienced, but lets hear what their new Leader, Bucky, has to say.
Interview with Pirates Leader, Bucky
CPOAL: First off congratulations on topping the leaderboard as well maxing a mammoth 150 size. Did you expect the army to perform so well throughout the week?
Bucky: Yes I did, never doubted it.
CPOAL: What would you say would be the secret behind the continuous success of the Pirates?
Bucky: Somewhat the secret behind it is just to keep recruiting.
CPOAL: I’m sure Epic101 played a vital role behind the Pirate’s success story. Would his departure impact how the Pirates will do in the days to come?
Bucky: His departure did impact us but overall, the pirates will still be the same with just under a new leader.
CPOAL: What would you say would be the goals for Pirates in coming days as the Pirates are now under a new Leadership?
Bucky: The goals for Pirates is just to keep working hard, have fun and just really keep your head up.
CPOAL: Thank you for your time, I wish you luck in your future endeavors! Is there anything else you’d like to say to the community?
Bucky: Thank you and I think that will be all.
While the new Leader has definitely shown great confidence and promise, its still hard to discern what the future holds for the Pirates. What we need to remember is that, throughout history, the Pirates have always faced great difficulty in the periods following the retirement of their Leader. But will it be different this time around, or will we see the fall of a great Empire?
