The Next Leader: Kelsey of the Fighter Pilots

ALASKA, CP Army Hub Headquarters – Welcome to the latest edition of The Next Leader, written by Reporter Kally. In this weekly column, the CP Army Hub staff acquaints themselves with the Leaders-in-Training of our army community. After all, they are the future leaders of the army community. This week, we talk to Kelsey from the Fighter Pilots. What are her thoughts on leadership? What should we expect from her? Exactly who is this future leader?

In the second edition of The Next Leader, we get to know Kelsey from the Fighter Pilots! Kelsey’s army career started in the latest generation of the Golds Empire. After their shutdown in May 2020, she joined the Fighter Pilots along with many other former Golds members on May 26th. From the beginning, she showed immense dedication to the army and was soon promoted to staff ranks. Over time, Kelsey climbed the staff ranks and gathered leading experience.

During her tenure as Fighter Pilots’ staff, Kelsey also helped lead other armies, such as the Crystal Cowboys and the Golden Troops. She also played a major part in helping the Fighter Pilots win second place in the SubZero Showdown tournament. The Fighter Pilots have also reached great placements in the Top Tens during Kelsey’s career.

After five loyal months in the army, Kelsey has certainly left a mark in the Fighter Pilots history. Just over a month ago, she was promoted to Command Chief MS by Ana, the equivalent of a Second in Command in Fighter Pilots.

CP Army Hub staff reached out to Kelsey for an exclusive interview. What are her thoughts on armies and leadership?

What would be the first three things you’d do if you became leader tomorrow?

Great question. First off, the first thing I would do as leader is thank everyone who has helped me reach that status. This journey has been long, tiring, and full of many up’s and down’s. Throughout my time in Fighter Pilots, I have always wanted to make my way to leader, mostly so I could help out the army in any way possible. I have held this army dear to me, mostly because we have been through so much together.

Second thing I would do is devote more time to building up the army as much as possible. All I want for Fighter Pilots is to become strong, united, and possibly become a major army eventually. Though that being sad is going to be difficult with some of the current issues going on, like the shut down of CPO, and the lack of reliable places to recruit. Though, I will never stop trying to build up our strength and numbers.

The third thing I would like to if I became leader tomorrow would be giving Jenn and Frostty a break from having to host the events each time. They work so hard for the success of Fighter Pilots, and devote quite a lot of time to host our events. Me being there, I would want to relieve some of that stress off of them. Having a unified and strong leadership is something you need if you want your army to be successful. and fun.

Would you then say you prioritise events and size in army leading? Or rather dominating the map or having close relationships with other armies?

As someone who has experienced a little bit of everything, I believe that events and size are what keep the army going. Though, it isn’t a bad thing to have some land and allies under your wing. In my opinion, events are what keep the army community engaged, and willing to participate in your army. If you have an active and loyal community then they should be willing to help your army succeed by recruiting. All of these really come hand in hand and should be prioritized equally, but in order to have a good grounding, size and throwing events is rather important for the success of the army.

What or who do you think has influenced you most during your army career? Is there anyone you look up to?

Jenn is who introduced me to Fighter Pilots and I am beyond grateful that she did. Jenn, Semi, and Ana were all great influencers for me to become an engaged member of FP. They were always there for me to encourage me, include me, and guide me to success. I really look up to Jenn because she is one of the best leaders I have met. She is always there for us and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that we are successful. She is always engaged, friendly, and reliable. Even when she got her full time job back, she was still there to host events, even if they were mostly late or Ausia. If I become leader, I would like to follow in Jenn’s steps.

What is your personal number one aim in armies? What would you have to reach before you could retire?

It is really hard to narrow down one aim, but I think that becoming a major army and becoming army legend are in my vision. One thing that I want to do is have a strong army that I can retire in. What I mean by this is that I don’t want to have the fear of our army shutting down because it just wasn’t strong enough when I retire. I want to ensure that we have good numbers and reliable members who can keep up the good work. I believe that if we reached all of our goals, then I could reach army legend

Last question! If you could only use one emote tactic, which one would it be?

Ever since I became part of armies, emote rundown was always my favorite emote tactic. When you have members who are fast and paying attention, emote rundown can look pretty cool. Not only does it take up a good chunk of time, but the transitions between them are smooth. I always use them as a good room finisher to appear uniformed and clean. That way were also not just sitting there for the last 30 seconds waiting for the room announcement haha.

Kelsey is certainly ready to take on the role of leader in Fighter Pilots. She wants the army to fly high and to reach the Major army status, and maybe even collect the Army Legend role on the way.
