Chapter One: Did I Just Enjoy Club Penguin?

I’ve been stuck in my house for what feels like a century, and I’m bored out of my mind. This is the reason that I, Ellie Mae Thomas, at the ripe old age of sixteen and a half decided to get onto Club Penguin. I know what you are thinking, “Didn’t that shut down in like 2015 or 2016?”. Yeah, I thought so too, but apparently four students in the UK remade it, and now I sit here looking at the blue screen with all the cartoon penguins on an Ice Berg and feel a wave of nostalgia rush over me and a smile spreads across my face.

I click on the “Create a new penguin” button and see another cartoony blue penguin staring back at me. I try to put in “EllieElephant” as my nickname, but it is too long so I change the ph to an f. I find my favorite color, green, and put it on the penguin, and finally, put my email in and verify the account. I log in and look at all the servers, I scoff when I see that my old favorite server, Mammoth, is practically empty. Blizzard is still doing well though it seems as it even has a queue lined up for it.

“I guess I want the full experience,” I mumble to myself, as I click on Blizzard and load into the Snow Forts. I walk into the room to the left and it takes a while to load, finally, the Town loads and it is packed out. A bunch of penguins in green are circling the room and telling people to grab the cowbell and join them. I ask where it is using the chat bar and they tell me to look in the gift shop catalog, and so I walk into the gift shop and use my free coins to buy the green and the cowbell, and then proceed to join in on the fun. We do different formations and do the same emotes together, and the other people are so fast. After the event is over, I waddle over to one of the people and ask, “Who are you guys?”. The penguin replies that they are a cool group and that I should look up “Clover defenders” and click the first link to join them. After I tell him that I might later and he says okay and that he hopes to see me around. I log off and close my laptop.

“Did I just have fun on Club Penguin?” I mumble to myself. I don’t know if I should join the group or not, but I am definitely considering it. Deciding to think about it for a little while, I write the words ‘clover defenders’ on a sticky note I have on my bedside table and lay on my bed thinking about the group, until I drift to sleep.

Come back next Friday for Chapter Two.
